I want to download the different template so I can design them myself

Is there some way to directly publish my website from Frontpage 2003 or Expression Web2? I get an error in Expression that says it does not support publishing to sharepoint supported formats. I copy and paste the files (using the name "default" as the index page as instructed in the office live help files, and I still get a "page not found" when i try to access the site from explorer. Yes office live is user friendly, but only if you want to use thier editor, which in my opinion isn't great, nor does it have the options I want.
