    INserting code for Google Analytics

I see several posts here already on the subject but none seem to give a straight answer to the question. Where do you place code to support Google Analytics?

I am guessing you paste the code in to the keword metatags box on each of the pages. Can someone please just confirm if that is what you have to do or describe if it is something else.

    Thanks very much

Re: INserting code for Google Analytics

I found various answers to this problem. In the end, as I was using a custom footer. I was able to copy the code from Google Analytics straight into the xml for the footer. This way the code is on every page. I would guess you can insert a HTML module on your page and put the code there without any problems.

I understand there is a size limit in the keywords so you may want to avoid putting it there.

Larry, just to make sure there is no confusion. When you put the Google Analytics code in a cusotm footer module, you need to make sure that a custom footer module exists on every page. It is not enough to have the module on one page.

    Royster,

Yes I am doing that. I should have mentioned it. I created a blank page with my custom footer and saved it as my template so all my new pages have the same footer.

Re: INserting code for Google Analytics

I tried pasting the code in to an HTML module and placed it within each page. I found today that every time I tried to open a page on my website is just hung.

If I then went in to the editor and removed the code I was then able to access the webpage.

Kind of suggests it was the code causing the problem. Have you ever done the same and is there something else I should have done?

Re the footer...what do you do? Simply paste the code in to the footer text box? Is that it. Im only concerned because when I did that the code can be read as text which would seem wrong.

How do you do it on yours?

    Appreciate your help.
