    Cannot edit website

Have started work on a website yesterday I cannot get into it again to edit the pages.  All I get is a revolving 'please wait'.  The 'call support' & 'Email support' buttons do not appear to be working either.  I am being punished for using Firefox is is there a general system error?  I have seen a reference to clearing out temp file, cookies etc but that seems a bit drastic.  Can anyone provide som insight to this issue? Many thanks!

    Re: Cannot edit website

You want to be able to EDIT the site too? That costs extra-----just kidding, of course. The access problem seems to be very common and MS hasn't come up with a real solution in the years I've been using OL. The fix for me was to switch to Firefox and I've never had the problem since, so that's not what's causing your problem. Deleting your temp files/cache/cookies is routine maintenance and is worth a try. That's probably what support will tell you to do-when they don't really know a solution-no matter what the problem- they always suggest that. You can reach them via email from the link on the home page of this community on the right hand side (-the phone link takes you to the email form too I believe).
I've also seen others report that pasting either code or formatted text (for instance from Word) directly onto a page, can lock up the page editor. You could try creating a new page and OVERWRITING your default.aspx page to see if that helps.

Thanks AVD.  A very useful contribution Smile I know this service is free, but do MSFT every roll their sleeves up and wade in to help sort the issues out or is it just helpful souls like you who respond?

    Re: Cannot edit website

Robert, You can find many helpful posts by "MSFT" folks in the community, so they do pitch in but to be honest I've never seen anyone come up with a satisfactory answer to the editor lock up problem. A cursory glance at the posts here will show just how widespread a problem it is, yet they don't seem to be able to fix it. I realize the process of building a website over the internet is a complex one, fraught with potential issues, but I've used other web based site builders and have never seen these types of issues. Even a simple recognition that there is a problem they're working on would be a good start.
Were you able to resolve your problem?

    Re: Cannot edit website

Thanks AVD!  I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had the problem and as it happens I'm not in any great rush to get the site noticed (which is just as well!)  I've been a MSFT user since DOS 1.1 so I have been disappointed by MSFT before, but I am surprised that a service aimed at the small business user could leave you dangling with no cabin crew to help.  As you say, just a 'We have a problem - we are working on it' would be nice.  I will have to spend part of my weekend finding out if there is a cure this side of a Phd in Computing that I can put into effect.  My problems is still open and apart from your kind assistance, still live.
