My colleague Skip Chilcott recently posted about new ways that you can customize the look and function of your website. I'd like to add that we've created step-by-step instructions for these four new features to help you get started improving your site right now:

  1. Add a PayPal button to your website: If you have a PayPal Merchant account (see PayPal’s website for details) you can place an Add to Cart, Buy Now, Donate, Gift Certificate, or Subscribe button on your website.  A new module in Page Editor makes it easy to do.
  2. Add a background color or image to your website: Make your site stand out by adding background color site-wide, or by adding custom images to the background of each page.
  3. Customize your website color scheme: The Site Designer gives you 35 professionally-designed color schemes to choose for your site, but if those don't work for you, you can design your own.
  4. Change the page layout: Now, you have many options for customizing the layout for each page: In addition to choosing from 11 different layout styles, you can now resize each zone within a layout.

These features give you more control over the look and feel of your website, so you can present a unique and compelling presence on the Web. If you have any comments or questions about these features, or if you can think of more that would get you closer to your design goals, don't hesitate to leave a comment.

To PABLOCOSTARELLI:

From looking at her web page, the photo used as the header is one photo made out of 2. I think she probably used an image editor, like photoshop, Gimp, PSP, etc., to merge the 2 images, save it as 1 image, then use it for her header. She might have applied the text on her image editor, or used the Microsoft web page builder to do it. Some useful information can be found in the officelive wiki articles, at ask.officelive.com/.../first-steps-to-a-more-attractive-web-site.aspx  , look under the paragraph titled, "Apply a Style" or there is info about making your own company Logo into a header, in the wiki articles, on the page:   ask.officelive.com/.../branding-your-site-with-your-company-logo.aspx

Hope this helps.
